Marcus Hiles - Aiding the Environment

As the founder and CEO of Western Rim Properties, a multi-billion-dollar real estate company, Marcus Hiles has made a significant impact on the economy. What some may not realize however, is that Mr. Hiles has also made a significant impact on the environment as well. He has always made it a central focal point of his company to create modern, sustainable spaces that emphasize the natural environment. Mr. Hiles wants each of his developments to keep a balance with the natural environment, as well as the needs of the residents.

One of the strongest campaigns Mr. Hiles has taken in improving the environment has been his tree planting project. Every year his company Western Rim purchases and plants 2,500 trees for the landscape and overall air quality of Texas. The vegetation offers many benefits not just to the environment, but to each resident. Trees improve air quality, syphon off pollutants in storm water, can reduce neighborhood noise, and offers cooling shade equivalent to 10 room-sized air conditioners running for 20 hours. That is the energy equivalent estimate that the shade of a single tree can provide.

Marcus Hiles has planted over 30,000 trees since he started his program over ten years ago. Another important function of Mr. Hiles program is that trees process huge abundances of harmful Co2 emissions, replacing it with oxygen. The trees Mr. Hiles has contributed have significantly impacted growing environmental concerns. His developments are a literal and figural, “breath of fresh air” for residents, and the real estate industry itself.
